Viking Rowing Foundation has partnered with St. Augustine's Prep
School,
Atlantic County Rowing Association (ACRA) and Rowing Services, LLC to offer an
expanded youth Summer Rowing Camp with long-time coaches Larry Connell and Ray
D'Amico.
The program is geared toward students in grades 5 to 12 and will run Monday
through Friday, 9 am to 1:00 pm daily. The fee for
the camp is $325.00. The campers will be grouped by ability levels. The camp will be conducted on Lake Lenape (Atlantic County Rowing
Association) in Mays Landing, NJ.
The program is designed to help young campers
prepare for high school rowing. Emphasis is on rowing technique, training,
and learning the teamwork involved in making a boat go fast! The camp is
designed
to be informative and in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Novice and
experienced rowers will benefit from this camp. Whether you are entering
your first year of competitive rowing or you want to take the next step
into Varsity competition, this camp will be beneficial to you.
The Camp will consist of rowing in eight men shells, learning sculling technique in a recreational single, and training on the rowing machine. Campers will be videotaped and analysis will be given on an individual "one on one" basis.
The Atlantic County facility at Lake Lenape is
first rate. Lake Lenape is a safe rowing environment conducive to a
positive rowing experience. Campers will finish out the week with a mini
regatta and
barbeque lunch.
